Dragon Quest I

Hero (Erdrick’s/Loto’s Descendent) vs Dragonlord

  • Ghosts of a Golden Age (Damdara)
    • Speak to Galen the travelling bard and then talk to Magog, the blacksmith.
    • Fight the Knight Aberrant right behind the blacksmith in front of the tree.
    • Speak to Galen again to put the spirits to rest and receive one densinium.
  • Curse Got Your Tongue? (Tantagel
    • Speak to Princess Gwaelin (don’t forget to loot the 2 chests). She asks you to find spectrum nectar because a fiend named The End of Time has cursed the King, her father, and he can no longer speak.
    • You must defeat Calasmos
    • Upon entering Tickington afterwards, spectrum nectar will be awarded to you.
    • Give it to Princess Gwaelin to complete this quest (and likely the last Tickington quest!) and receive Pallium Regale (costume for Rab)
  • The Harp-Hearkened Horrors (Galenholm)
    • Speak to the old man in front of the building in the north-east portion of the map.
    • Then enter the building and exit the north-west portion of the curtain to find a monster blocking the path.
    • Defeat it, recover the Lyre of Ire
    • Return to the old man to get a Gold Bracer

Altar of the Legendary Line

Dragon Quest II: Luminaries of the Legendary Line

Three Luminaries vs Hargon

  • A Robbery in Rendarak (Cave Leading to Rendarak)
    • Talk to the soldier. Learn that a Restless Armour has stolen Erdrick’s equipment set and adorned itself with it. Take back the Soul Sigil, Erdrick’s Armour, and‘ Thunderbolt Blade, otherwise his Majesty the Prince of Midenhall can’t get them when he and his teammates come looking!
    • Make your way through to cave, being careful of the pitfalls, and random encounter monsters (especially the ones with kathwack!). When you make your way to the next level, grab the chests, and then head up until it splits left and right. Go left first to gab 2 chests down the stairs, then head right. You know you’re right when you see the dragon adornment on the ground.
    • In the next part, you’ll deal with lots of pitfalls. Hint: if you walk in the space right next to a hole, you won’t fall down again. Follow the creature through the next maze. I just kind of headed up and right and eventually cornered it.
    • Prepare your team and then talk to the monster. It will start a fight. Defeat the Restless Armour and you’ll take back the equipment set (the game prevents you from using the stairs there).
    • Evac to the soldier and he will reward you with an Uber Agate of Evolution.‘
  • A Cannockian Conundrum (Cannock Castle)
    • Cannock Castle is looking for its prince.
    • Go to The Roamer Encampment (Altar of the Forgotten Past) and solve their predicament.
    • Then go to the Imperial Pantry of Parthenia (Altar of the Chosen) after finishing that quest.
    • Talk to Alena (by going to the right of the stairs in the main area with all the arrow floors and falling down the hole) who then tells you to go to Whealbrook (Altar of the Heavenly Bride).
    • After you heal the village from their nasty colds, talk to Pankraz who tells you that the prince went to Neverglade also found in the Altar of the Heavenly Bride.
    • Head north 2 screens until you see the Prince of Cannock who is hopelessly lost. You transport him back with your Luminary powers.
    • Return to Cannock Castle and speak to the King to finally end this quest.
    • You get a Tectonic Plate
  • Curing the Curse of the Curse (Moonbrooke)
    • All the people are dogs! Talk to the girl in the North who is the Princess of Moonbrooke. I think this one is straightforward. You just have to defeat the boss. Defeating the boss will turn everyone back to people while the princess turns back into a dog.
    • Your prize: Devil’s Tail

Altar of Salvation

Dragon Quest III: The Seeds of Salvation

Hero vs Baramos, Zoma

  • Bringing Back the Big Bad (Baramos’s Castle)
    • The hero has jumped in after Zoma, and now the Necrogondolier is trying to revive Baramos.
    • Navigate the map, kill monsters and then defeat the Necrogondolier. It likes to heal itself, so keep raining down heavy hits.
    • Then Evac and talk to the King who will give you a Dracolyte.
  • The Big Bad is Back Anyway! (Baramos’s Castle — Later on)
    • Whoops, Baramos was revived anyways.
    • Go through, defeat the purple monsters if you like, and get ready to do battle with the Archfiend Baramos!
    • Defeat him and complete the quest.
    • Prize: Golden Claws
  • An Endangered Engagement (Erdrick’s Future Home)
    • Ortega is about to marry his wife, but a monster is making everyone naysay the wedding. You have to go get the “Defuddle Drops” in order to, well, defuddle everyone.
    • Get them from the Pavo the angel in the Observatory (Altar of the Starry Skies).
    • Return and fight the soldier who is actually a monster.
    • Talk to the old man and receive a Gold Rosary

Altar of the Chosen

Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen

Hero, Ragnar, Alena, Kiryl, Torneko, Maya, Meena vs Psaro

  • Fiery Feverfew Seeds (Imperial Pantry of Parthenia):
    • A very annoying dungeon. It’s not the floor arrows so much as the rate of monster battles.
    • Talk to Alena and her crew who are unable to move because it’s so hot.
    • Make your way through the level
    • Defeat the flamethrower at the bottom which will return the dungeon to its normal, icy state.
    • Talk to Alena to finish the quest and accept your Holy Talisman
  • For Eliza (Hidden Valley):
    • Some people are chasing a slime that claims to actually be a gooman named Eliza! She wants you to help her lift her curse by forging an item called the supreme sage’s staff.
    • If you don’t have the recipe, it’s in the Sniflheim Whaleway Station behind the ultimate key door (hint: wyrmwood are shinies in the Whale stations of Zwaardsrust, First Forest, Gallopolis, and Gondolia).
    • You don’t have to give the staff to her, just use it on her. Do so and she gives you some crimsonite.
  • A Rosy Revelation (Rose’s Room):
    • Rose and the slime are being chased around by Sir Roseguardin who has gone crazy.
    • Defeat him
    • Talk to the slime who reveals that the “flute of revelation” has been destroyed. It was the only way Psaro could visit Rose.
    • Go to The Neverglade (Altar of the Heavenly Bride) and fight a “Silvapithecus” which is the white winged monkey.
    • Take the “revelatree branch” back to the slime and it will make a new flute.
    • You get a Tempest Shielf for your trouble

Hero, Bianca, Nera, Debora vs Nimzo

    • Talk to the sleeping man. He wants you to go defeat a plant that’s spewing soporific pollen.

    • Defeat the flower
    • Evac out to talk to the now-awake man to get a Papillon Pendant.
  • Cold Comfort (Whealbrook):

    • Talk to Sancho in the house to the East and accept the quest.
    • Head to Quester’s Rest (Altar of the Starry Skies) to find more information.
    • Talk to Sellma on the right. She’ll whip you up some medicine if you bring her Yggdrasil dew. I already had some on me (you can get some from Yggrasil Tree shinies, if you don’t).
    • When you give it to her, she tells you she’ll have it the next time you come see her. Geez.
    • You have to teleport out and then back. She’ll charge you 2500 gold for some Stone Cold Cold Killer.
    • Give it to Sancho for some platinum ore.
    • Congratulations, you have finished this book! Make sure you talk to Pankraz before you leave to learn about the Prince of Cannock.
  • The Bane of Briscolettis (Briscoletti’s Mansion):
    • Rodrigo needs you to go slay a monster.
    • Go slay it

    • Talk to the horse in front of the Pillar. It wants you to go find its owner who hasn’t returned.
    • I’d suggest looking at the map below. It was very helpful for the chests.
    • Go to the top and prepare for 2 battles.
    • Return to the horse and old man to claim your Mighty Armlet and finish the quest!

  • A Fishy Fashion Fan (Weaver’s Peak):
    • Tania wants you to help her expose her brother as an imposter.
    • Go to Quester’s Rest (Altar of the Starry Skies).
    • Talk to the pink warrior at the table who tells you to get “bodura grass”.
    • She sends you to the 3rd level of The Ruby Path of Doom also in Altar of the Starry Skies. Ugh. This place again.
    • Head East to the stairs.
    • Then on the 2nd level, head North and go down the stairs.
    • Your target is in the northwest portion of this level near the 2 chests.
    • Talking to her gets you “bodura grass.” Whoo!
    • Evac out unless you want to train
    • Return to Weaver’s Peak.
    • Talk to Tania and then to the imposter.
    • It’s a monster!! Take the opportunity to heal and prepare.

    • Get your Kaleidocloth
    • Book, completo!
  • Fogies Just Wanna Have Fun (Alltrades Abbey):
    • This one cracked me up. Alltrades is being beset by old men who want to be bunnygirls. You have to go find the book to help them achieve their goal.
    • The book “The Bunny Girl’s Bible” is in the L’Academie de Notre Maitre les Medailles’s Library, the gold sparkly on the ground.
    • Give it to the King to complete the quest and get a Golden Pickaxe

  • Come On, Kiefer (Roamer Encampment):
    • Kiefer is out to get a green gem to cure his wife, Lala.
    • It’s back to the Rainbow mines, except now it’s just like the game where you have to match colored rocks to obliterate them. The puzzles are easy.
    • Fight the monster for Kiefer who, for some reason, complains of having no weapon
    • Evac back to the camp to complete the quest

  • A Worrying Window (Trodain Castle):
    • Ishmahri beseeches you to help the heroes stuck in the Land of the Moonshadow because the sun has remained in the sky preventing night from falling.
    • This is a high random-encounter-rate level with a chance to fight metal king slimes (whopper EXP!!) and has overall decent experience points making it a good place to train.
    • Head to the left side of the map and follow the ramparts north.
    • The east and west sides of the castle have chests with goodies. If you make your way all the way to the basement via the Northwesternmost tower spiral staircase, you’ll end up in the library where you’ll pick up a book entitled, “Look, No Pants.”
    • Head upwards in the castle until you come to the large staircase.

    • Defeat it and complete the quest to get a Shamsir of Light and to finish out the book.
  • One Crazy Cat (Chateau Felix):

    • Talk to him

    • You need 3 books. You get “Guns and Buns” from Briscoletti’s Mansion (Altar of the Heavenly Bride), “The Champion’s Code” from Ortega’s father-in-law in Erdrick’s Future Home (Altar of Salvation), and “The Girl’s Own Annual” from Quester’s Rest (Altar of the Starry Skies). The books are in the bookshelves with books on top of the shelves.
    • Go back to Rosalind. She’ll see your books and prompt you if you want to use the books on Jessica. The descriptions of the books are in the “important items” tab.

Altar of the Starry Skies

Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies

Hero vs. Corvus

  • Mad About Maps (Ruby Path of Doom):
  • **N.B.: I highly recommend starting the Go Fygger quest before starting this one**
  • A warrior wants you to find out why everyone’s so mad at him and his maps.
  • Proceed into the caves and train, train, train your team (not that you can help it, with the encounter rate). There are a few chests here and there.
  • At long last, you will see a big monster with an orb in its hand. That is the Go Fygger quest.
  • To finish the Mad About Maps quest, go forward until you see a King Metal Slime.
  • Heal up and prepare yourself. It is, in fact, the King of King Metal Slimes and it’s no pushover. I stupidly forgot about my Metal Slime Sword.
  • Evac out

    • Talk to Patty behind the counter on the left to start the quest.

    • Talk to Aquila who wants you to go after someone who took off with a “fygg.”
    • Trudge through the caves in the Ruby Path of Doom (Altar of the Starry Skies) until you see one of those 3‑tailed dragons that hold an orb.
    • Prepare for a relatively hard fight as it has these damage blocking moves and multi-hit attacks.
    • When you defeat it, turns out it was a slime who wanted to be stronger. It regurgitates the fygg.
    • Return to Aquila in the Observatory and complete the quest.
    • Some Benevolessence is now yours!

Altar of the Undeciphered

    • Go to Baramos’s Castle (Altar of Salvation)
    • Speak to the soldier standing with the King. He tells you he saw a tortoise to the north behind some trees.
