• BEWARE: On Uncle Rigs­by boss fight, be care­ful not to get sucked into the mid­dle of the black pit before you kill him because you’ll get stuck! It’s quite the glitch. I had to wait for the police to come kill me and then had to do the fight again!

• The Shroom­i­nati wor­ship the Great Mush, and there’s a Broc­coli down there that thinks the Great Mush looks more like a Broc­coli. In real­i­ty, it’s a nuclear blast, explain­ing why the Food­folk are sen­tient and there are some deformed-look­ing crea­tures every­where. Except rats in the sew­er.

• The Gob­lins are actu­al­ly humans. As Gregg explains, the exist­ing Gob­lins were veg­an cos­play­ers and LARPers when the blast hap­pened which is why they end­ed up trans­form­ing with pointy ears. They were going to a Con as cos­play­ers
• Non-Fun­gus Trin­kets it like­ly a ref­er­ence to NFTs
• Expo­sure Bucks is hilar­i­ous “shout-outs” on social media by influ­encers who don’t want to pay for things

Also, in that quest, the acorn turns into a tree after giv­ing you its scalp and tears and wal­low­ing in the soil it bought because not only did it lose its woody cap, but the tears made it so that it would grow roots
• Wood is con­sid­ered black mar­ket mate­r­i­al because as food­folk, they all come from plants, so wood would be rather grue­some
• Body Pil­low is in ref­er­ence to otaku Wai­fu and Hus­ban­do. Inter­est­ing that it costs $69
• Lore in the game states that if Turnip Boy speaks, his voice has the abil­i­ty to rip out peo­ple’s souls. Cran­cran was killed this way in the first game which is why she and her apple­cats are in The Beyond Are­na
• Maybe I went too fast, but I think Turnip Boy says one word to some­one in this game, too! Can’t remem­ber now
• “No Scope” from the Food­folk Sep­a­ra­tor is in ref­er­ence to COD games sniper rifle usage. Now, I did­n’t play Doom itself, but I did play Chex Quest which is very much like Doom, and I feel like the amal­ga­ma­tion of food­folk as a door is like The Flem­brane that cov­ers some doors in Chex Quest. You have to shoot it to pro­ceed and a gun is what the Sep­a­ra­tor X 2000 No Scope is
