I mentioned before that I bought the cheapest option truck because I care mostly about the hybrid and the ability to DIY stuff. Well. The sound system is definitely cheap. TOO cheap, in fact. It sounds absolutely terrible and I got tired of it, so I decided to buy new ones.
Now, this is neither a guide nor gallery of process photos like I normally do, because I did not install it. There are plenty of videos on YouTube to view if you are curious.
All I can say is, WOW, it sounds so much better, so if you are on the fence about upgrading your speakers for your Maverick, do it!

For those of us who don’t want to deal with amps and soldering, etc, for this car, just do the front door speakers. My base XL came with 6 speakers: 2 tweeters in the dash near the windshield, 2 car door speakers, and then 2 basically tweeters in the pillars in the back. The tweeters are very small in the front and hard to work with, and worse for the back, so I opted to leave them alone and just get 2-way speakers for the door.

I ended up going to Best Buy after poking around online, so that I could hear the different audio systems that they had. Ultimately, I chose the Alpine S-S65 2-way 6-1/2″ speakers.

Items Needed: Speakers, Metra speaker wiring harness adapter from Crutchfield (Bronco Sport works perfectly for the Maverick which Crutchfield has nothing for yet), and Metra speaker mounting brackets.
Like night and day difference. 🙂
