Almost 20 years ago in 2008, I played this game on the Nintendo DS. I didn’t like it then, and I don’t like it now. Everything about this 2nd installment of the series seems like a rush job: from the story (to be fair, the beginning and end are good), to the level design, to the side quests. They did improve the ability to access the transer/star carrier, but the prevailing feeling of the game is frustration. Battle movement is laggy, the monsters too fast, and access to literally everywhere is as difficult and inconvenient as possibleI suspect it’s a cheap way to make the game harder because they rushed it. As a massive fan of side quests in general, I found this game to have TOO MANY, something I rarely ever complain about. Again, this points to developers trying to add filler to an otherwise weak game. The entire time I played, I can’t understand why sometimes humans can see EM Beings and sometimes they can’t? Mega just says “sometimes it’s visible!” How convenient…

Nevertheless, here is a guide for the side quests/jobs in the game, along with name references and CIPHER codes as I encountered them.

Other Quests

Hikari Diary Quest

Quest: Find 5 Parcels

Reward: BN Blaster mega weapon

Note: This was really neato and I was happy to find them all

  • Jan. XXth (Echo Ridge: Red Mailbox) — Today was ACDC Elementary School’s class reunion It’s been quite a while since I graduated… Time really goes by so fast. Dex, who I haven’t seen in a while, has been elected mayor. He was really grown into a fine young man. And I hear Yai is the president of her father’s company: traveling around the world. They both have made their own marks and now it’s my turn. I’m gonna become a great scientist and help all of humanity!
  • Mar. XXth (Wilshire Hills: Old Binoculars near IFL Tower)- I went to the airport to meet Chaud, who’s back from a while overseas. Apparently, he’s back because the government wants to recognize his service as an International Official Net Battler by presenting him with an award. But even so, he didn’t show any sign of joy, saying, “…Hmph, I didn’t do it for the glory. So, I’m not particularly thrilled to be receiving this.” It seems like that detached side of him hasn’t changed a bit.
  • Jul. XXth (Grizzly Peaks: Lost Ice Statue in Foodtopia)- ACDC Elementary is about to be renovated. They’re going to make it a lot more high-tech. I am a little sad to see the old buildings go. Oh, that reminds me. Higsby’s is another place I’m gonna miss. It’s not that they’re closing, it just looks like they’re moving to a new location. They say that the new place’ll be 10 stories tall, and they’re gonna call it “Higsby’s Chip Emporium.” I definitely have to attend the opening ceremony!
  • Sep. XXth (Loch Mess: Sunken Ship ES)- My son Patch nagged me into finally getting him a PET. I was planning to wait until he was a little older, but my wife Mayl said he was ready for it, so I bought him one. He named the Net Navi he installed, “Mega Man Junior.” Its programming is taken from the best parts of my Navi, Mega Man and Mayl’s Navi, Roll. Patch was ecstatic. He’s determined to be “the greatest Net Battler in the world.” I wonder what he’ll grow up to be…? That’s the greatest thing I have to look forward to as a father.
  • Nov. XXth (Whazzap: Ammonite ES on rock wall) — At the Sci Lab meeting I put forth my “Link Hypothesis” that I’ve been pondering for some time now. Mega Man and I used to gith together, risking our lives. Each time, there was this almost miraculous power between us that helped pull us through. I started thinking about that power, and that’s what started me on my hypothesis. I believe that despite their invisibility, bonds contain an incredible power. I think that by researching this hypothesis, the results will somehow benefit the world. Maybe not in my lifetime, but… I’d like to think that future generations will be able to use it as a springboard to create a bright future for all!

Upon completion of all Parcel Virus quests and reading all notes, you receive an email from Lan Hikari (Hikari Netto) saying: “Thank you for finding my diary. I wrote this because I wanted to leave some kind of message to the people of the future. Well how is it in the future? I wonder if it’s the kind of future we envisioned. We will work harder to make a happy future! Please take this as sign of my appreciation for you reading my diary.

Almost 20 years ago in 2007, I played this game on the Nintendo DS. While I finished it, I wasn’t very good at it and was never able to fully complete the game. At the time there were no easy guides to find and had to rely on Game FAQs to do it. Fast forward to 2026 for the Legacy Collection on Nintendo Switch: I’m better at this type of game now but there’s STILL a shortage of side quest guides that are to-the-point and not littered with extreme amounts of ads, so I decided to put one together myself. Here you go!

Deep Space

Location: Echo Ridge’s Vista Point

Reward: Kelvin Transer, K. Knuckle (mega weapon), Pegasus/Leo/Dragon Battle Chip, 100% Game Completion

Pulse into Vista Point’s wave portal, then go north and enter the new portal there which takes you into the Deep Space Challenge. You’re going to need a few things to beat it:

  • You will need have beaten the SP forms of all the bosses, including the optional bosses

Boss Locations:

  • Taurus Fire: Echo Ridge
  • Harp Note: Vista Point
  • Cygnus Wing: Boreal’s Office
  • Libra Scales: Class 5‑A
  • Queen Ophiuca: Time Square
  • Gemini Spark: Dream Island Park
  • Cancer Bubble: AMAKEN Foyer
  • Wolf Woods: Event Area
  • Couronne XIV: City Dump
  • 5 Unlockers (Can buy in sign comp in Echo Ridge)
  • 100 standard chips to get into Deep Space 2
  • All 150 standard chips (some of them are going to be able to be bought in Deep Space 2, so save up your Zenny, or dropped from viruses there, so use the C. Finder weapon for Mega OR you can cheat like me by using the ciphers in this LINK. Be warned that some of the message ones were made for the DS and for the Switch you just type them out. Minor spelling differences like “Brother-Bands” was just “Brother Bands”)
  • To get to the Kelvin Transer: either delete all your Brother Bands, or have the Lonely Heart found from a hidden passage on the Living Module Comp from the space station (Living Module hidden wave road path southeast-most jut out point). You talk to the Mr. Hertz there and answer “No”
  • At the end of Deep Space 3, face your satellite admin as a boss to gain their Megachip. They’ll leave you with cryptic words: “Use it to kindle the 6 stars and conquer the truly lonely evil giant.”

The Lonely/Evil One

  • So what you need to do now is to find and fight your satellite admin just like the other bosses, both EX and SP forms (pulse out after EX to bring out the SP form), and get BOTH CHIPS. EX is easy, SP… not so much. Good luck. I didn’t get even close. So, I cheated… with CIPHER email codes. Pegasus Magic SP: “Go On Air to trade info with friends.” Leo Kingdom SP: “Star Force, the ultimate power!” Dragon Sky SP: “Legendary Master Shin”
  • The “six stars” are all of the achievements on the title screen (Beat the game, All standard chips [150], all SP forms beaten, all Mega Chips [30], all Giga chips [5], and defeat of your satellite admin), so after finishing everything, save, and return to the title screen, then continue.
  • Go to Vista Point and talk to Zack. He’ll tell you there’s a strange noise coming from the piano. Go to the school’s gym and pulse into the piano. There’s a massive group of Jammers there. Talk to them for a 10-round virus busting challenge! When you’re done, go back and talk to Zack, and he’ll ask to form a Brother Band with you!
  • Leave Vista Point and you get an email from Legendary Shin that says: KMALEETZCP. Go ahead and send a CIPHER email with that code for M. Breath Mega weapon
  • The only thing left is to challenge Andromeda again because… This time it’s Andromeda INFINITY!! 4000HP and very fast attacks.
  • When you defeat it, you’ve fully completed the game!

Congratulations!!

100% COMPLETION!
